Space - is the area big enough for the number of guests?
Neighbors - let them know in advance what you are planning so they don't complain about the noise. I suggest inviting them to the reception and they will not complain about the noise.
Does the house have a pool? - Consider having the fence locked or hire a lifeguard if you are going to let anyone swim. Never allow children to play near a pool during a party.
Nuisance issues - Check with the city and find out if there are time restrictions for parties etc. Does the neighbor have a barking dog? Check on these things to avoid problems on the wedding day.
Alcohol - Hire a bartender and leave the drinks to a professional. Consider calling a cab for guests or provide some at the end of the event.
Parking - Is there enough space? Ask people to car pool or you could provide a shuttle from a nearby parking space. Valet service is nice too and should be considered for larger gatherings over 50 guests.
Weather - Consider renting a tent so your wedding and your guests are in the shade.
Rentals - Make a list of the items a venue will usually take care of in their costs. Tables, chairs, extra power, lighting, table flatware and all catering items.
Children - will guests be bringing children? Consider hiring a nanny for the event and they can keep the kids in the house with activities and give the parents a break during the ceremony and party.
Insurance - you may need special home and contents cover for the event in case of any accidents.
